Week 3 of Holiday Bazaars

groutbazaar

Grout Elementary School is the only elementary school bazaar I go to.  I went last year for the first time only because other plans I had made for that weekend fell apart, but it was such a good event that I expect I’ll be going back every year, even though it is small and short (it runs from 9AM to 1PM).  There are lots of kids, great live music, a good selection of handmade crafts, and a bake sale.  The neighborhood seems to support the school well, so the shoppers are serious!  Please come join us if you can.

Last Saturday I was at the West Linn Adult Community Center, another small, but really pleasant event.  My sales were quite good, but I couldn’t resist spending some of my profit on my fellow crafters and artisans.  One customer was kind enough to take a picture of me in my booth:

This is a small space (6 feet wide), so I decided to mount a monitor on the back wall to show my Astro-Flash slide show instead of taking up valuable table top space with a laptop computer.  It seems to have worked because I sold a good number of each product type; Astro-Flash, calendars, Space Windows, and prints.

A lot of people asked about the solar eclipse coming next year.  I was surprised not only that most people knew about it, but that they know it’s going to be a madhouse, with millions of people coming to Oregon to see it.  I guess I’m glad that I don’t have to think about where to go – I’m kind of stuck with going to the Oregon Star Party.  It will be bigger and crazier than usual, but actually quite small compared to other popular places, such as Salem and Madras.

About Greg Marshall

I am a retired electronics engineer and after a few months of enjoying my leisure I began to miss doing product development. My astronomy hobby always needed new solutions to unique problems, so I decided that whenever I came up with a good solution I would try to make it available to others.
