Holiday Bazaars

Is it ironic that the way we spell “bazaar” is bizarre?  If it were 50% more strange would it become tri-zarre? What’s really strange is that we haven’t even reached Halloween yet, but the holiday bazaar season starts just 1 week from today.  I am doing a different event every Saturday in November, and the first 2 weeks of December – six events all together.  The above flyer is for the biggest event, not the first (the smaller organizations usually don’t publish flyers like this).  The first event, on November 3rd, is Baker Prairie Middle School in Canby, OR.  […]

One More Time!

Yesterday’s event at Prairie High School was fantastic.  It was my first time at this Holiday Bazaar and although I knew it would be busy, I wasn’t prepared for the onslaught of shoppers.  Not that my booth was the destination for many shoppers, but I was located next to what must have been the most popular vendor there.  When the doors opened at 9AM there was a long line of people waiting to enter and it seemed that half of them headed straight to my neighbor’s booth!  The area was filled with shoppers for hours. I’m sure that the popularity […]

Week 3 of Holiday Bazaars

Grout Elementary School is the only elementary school bazaar I go to.  I went last year for the first time only because other plans I had made for that weekend fell apart, but it was such a good event that I expect I’ll be going back every year, even though it is small and short (it runs from 9AM to 1PM).  There are lots of kids, great live music, a good selection of handmade crafts, and a bake sale.  The neighborhood seems to support the school well, so the shoppers are serious!  Please come join us if you can. Last […]

Last Chance

My last holiday bazaar for this year is, very appropriately, the “Last Chance” Holiday Bazaar at Wy’east Middle School, 1112 SE 136th Ave, Vancouver, WA, 9 to 4 on Saturday, Dec. 12.  For more information, click here. Thanks to everyone who came out to the previous events.  I’ve had a great time meeting new people and talking about astronomy, cosmology, and photography.  Sales have also been great this year, and I’m very grateful for that. On the other hand, I haven’t been able write here about astronomy as much as I would like.  I’m looking forward to getting back to […]

Two To Go

This Saturday, Dec. 5, I’ll be at the Hockinson High School Holiday Bazaar in Brush Prairie from 9 to 5 (click here).  I haven’t been to this one before, but based on the size and location, it should be a good one. I will be showing astro-photos in all the formats I have; calendars, standard prints, backlit film prints, “Space Windows”, and digital images (“Astro-Flash” USB flash drive). There will be only one more bazaar for me this year, so come join the fun!

Next Up:

This Saturday, Nov. 28, I’ll be at the Heritage High School Holiday Bazaar (https://www.facebook.com/events/1689150001322104/) from 9 to 4.  I’ve haven’t been to this one before, so don’t know what it’s like, but they do have larger spaces for vendors than others, which means that I’ll be able to show more photos! If you’re going to be in the Vancouver area on Saturday, this would be a great place to start your Christmas shopping.  I always cover the sales tax for events in WA, and many other vendors probably do the same.

MVHS Follow-up

I’m going to call it a success!  There were some problems getting checked in and setting up, but everything was ready whenthey opened the doors at 9AM.  The attendance was good, as were my sales.  Maybe a little less than last year, but I was expecting that due to the bad weather and the horrible events in Paris yesterday. Some people at the bazaar today asked me whether I will be at other such events in the coming weeks.  I couldn’t remember all of them off the top of my head, so here is the list: Nov. 21: Grout Elementary […]
