Soul (Baby) Nebula (IC1848)

soul

Very near the Heart Nebula is this interesting structure, captured here in H-alpha and OIII.  It is sometimes called the Baby Nebula because of its shape, but the proximity to the Heart makes it irresistible to pair them as “Heart and Soul”.  Like the Heart, it is about 7,500 light-years from Earth, in the constellation Cassiopeia.

About Greg Marshall

I am a retired electronics engineer and after a few months of enjoying my leisure I began to miss doing product development. My astronomy hobby always needed new solutions to unique problems, so I decided that whenever I came up with a good solution I would try to make it available to others.
