Astro-Photography Exhibit

This is what an exhibit of astro-photos looks like before it is hung:

LO Exhibit

The Arts Council of Lake Oswego (Oregon) asked me to put together a collection of photos in connection with the library’s “Lake Oswego Reads” program, which is featuring the novel “Rise of the Rocket Girls: The Women Who Propelled Us, from Missiles to the Moon to Mars” by Nathalia Holt.  The arts council has a very nice, large gallery, the 510 Museum and ARTspace.  In fact, it’s a little too large for my collection, so I asked a few other local astro-photographers to participate in the show and got some excellent contributions.  There is a total of 61 photos and a little over half of them are mine.  The total number might change a little either way, depending on how well it all fits.  Most of the prints will be available for sale at very reasonable prices.

An opening reception will be held at the gallery on “First Friday”, Feb. 3rd, from 5 to 7PM.  I will be there and I hope at least a couple of the other photographers can make it as well.  And you, of course!  For more information see: http://artscouncillo.org/events/

I will also give a short talk at the gallery on Wednesday, Feb. 22nd.  This will be the same presentation I did last year, “Exploring the Intersection of Art & Science”.  Dr. Katherine Kornei will, one again, handle the science side, with the addition of some information about the great work that has been done by women in astronomy.  I’ll post a reminder of this event as the time approaches.

About Greg Marshall

I am a retired electronics engineer and after a few months of enjoying my leisure I began to miss doing product development. My astronomy hobby always needed new solutions to unique problems, so I decided that whenever I came up with a good solution I would try to make it available to others.
